The Open Planbook

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Open Planbook is an online planbook shared by the general education teacher and the resource specialist. Both teachers can view the planbook, make amendments, suggest interventions, ask questions, and attach documents to support all learners. The resource specialist arrives in class to make a positive impact.

1.1 Utilizes group processes to help colleagues work collaboratively to solve problems, make decisions, manage conflict, and promote meaningful change.
This project establishes a collaborative process for supporting special education students in an inclusive classroom. By involving the resource specialist in the planning process, the resource specialist will be effectively prepared to assist students in their academic improvement. However, scheduling time to collaborate and plan is not always easy or feasable. To work around the time constraints, I have created the Open Planbook. Now teachers will be able to collaborate from anywhere at any time.

MODEL THE WAY
I value collaboration and The Open Planbook is an example of how my beliefs are being mirrored by my actions. If I want others to be courageous enough to truly collaborate, I need to be willing to share. This shows my willingness to recieve open and honest feedback. As a result of this project, I am even considering opening my planbook to a larger audience.
INSPIRE A SHARED VISION
Although I am only working with one other person on The Open Planbook, I am inspiring a shared vision. I am showing my colleagues that I am listening to what they say by incorporating their input into my lessons. I am also showing others that their unique talents and services are valuable in crafting this shared vision.
CHALLENGE THE PROCESS
The Open Planbook is challenging the the process for myself and others. This is not the way we have typically worked in school. We are experimenting with new ideas and constantly refining the process in a ways that will benefit students. Becuase the Open Planbook is a two way communication. my partner and I have both contributed to the constantly evolving product.
ENABLE OTHERS TO ACT
By providing information about the learning objectives in my class, The Open Planbook allows the resource specialist to perform effectively. By encouraging input on my lessons the resource specialist feels like a valuable mamber of the team, not merely an added and unappreciated service.
